The book examines the concept of food sovereignty, an often overlooked, resistance-based idea rooted in people’s everyday struggles against impoverishment and austerity. Drawing on field evidence, the book raises a critical call against neoliberal policies shaping Egypt’s agricultural economy and sheds light on the neglected, impoverished rural communities of Upper Egypt.
