Preface

​Arab states have sought to adopt decentralization, influenced by the global trend in this regard. Arab experiences have varied based on the circumstances of each country. A special issue of Hikama on "Local Governance and Decentralization in Arab States" was developed to highlight these experiences with decentralization. The current issue has three studies that highlight the cases of Egypt, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia. The remaining studies will appear in future issues. Hikama cordially invites those interested in contributing to the field of local governance, decentralization, and related research topics involving Arab States to submit their papers.
