Abstract

The book Social Policy in Iran: Main Components and Institutions, written by researchers and experts living in Iran, offers a detailed analysis of the main fields of social policy as well as the key institutions and policies necessary for the provision of welfare services. It examines Iran’s social policy since the 1979 revolution, yet more importantly it traces the continuity of Iranian social policy. The pre-revolution period is essential to understanding post-revolution developments in social policy. Further, the book sketches institutional evolution until the state formation period of the 1920s, during which many of the institutions of modern Iran were established.
